The firm's Business and Personal
Planning Group focuses on the legal needs of family-owned and other closely-held
businesses, their owners and their families, and of other private individuals.
Our goal is to go beyond being simply one's attorney, but to become a
trusted advisor who understands and respects the intricate aspects of
a client's interests, wishes and needs.
Knowledge, Flexibility and
Quality
This level of knowledge
and trust allows us to be proactive and to work directly with our clients
as part of a team approach to prepare the best solution for the challenge
presented. Without the substantial infrastructure, and the associated
expense, of larger law firms, we can respond to both new and existing
clients quickly and with flexibility, matching (or exceeding) the quality
of the large firms without matching their fees.
Business Planning: Breadth
of Experience
Having worked with a number of New England's more successful closely-held
businesses, our business planning practice has the practical and technical
experience to address virtually all of the legal and tax-related matters
of our corporate clients. From the formation of a company, to the hiring
of employees, to the acquisition or sale of property or a different business,
to the licensing of technology, to the transfer of operations from one
generation of ownership to another, we stand ready to advise the client,
prepare the documents, and close the deal.
Personal Planning: Understanding
and Addressing Your Goals
Personal planning entails the puzzle of figuring out the best way to protect
one's assets now and to pass those assets onto the next generation later.
Because this area often involves the complex, and not altogether unrelated,
topics of taxation and family relations, we make every effort to make
our clients comfortable, so we can understand the goals they are trying
to achieve. In return, we will illustrate and explain the impact tax and
other laws may have on these goals, and then clarify the myriad of planning
options that are often available.
In the end, we are not looking
simply to reach a good result for our clients, but rather to develop a
strong relationship that allows us to be part of a long series of great
results.
